Hi! I'm Brian DeWitt. Nice to meet you!

This is a collection of all my Internets. My goal here is to group all of my various doings on the Internet into one place. This way we can have one conversation. And hopefully become better Internet pals. The tabs below are a nice intro.

Professional Content Writing Word of the Day

Posted on 05 December 2011

A professional content writer, or as you might say “copywriter” I know and work with at the new gig situation types some of the weirdest stuff.

Today’s word is mundange. Let us break down this word and derive its meaning.

Mundane is commonly used as “ordinary, banal, unimaginative.” Dange, according to Urban Dictionary, means extreme repulsion; exceedingly lazy. So it follows that mundange means:

  • 1. ordinary or banal to the point of causing physical and/or mental atrophy
  • 2. unimaginative to the point of causing extreme repulsion and creating unpleasant smells

Just drop one euro in the mail to me every time you use this fantastic new word.

Someone Wise Once Said...

Posted on 05 December 2011

Scott Walker to Bowie on his 50th Bithday: Hello David, this is Scott Walker. I’m coming to you via a very old crappy hand held tape machine. I hope it’s alright. I’m gonna be a devil today and not ask you any question. I’m certain that among the many messages, there’ll be those about that you always embrace the new, and how you freed so many artists and this is of course true. Like everyone else I’d like to thank you for all the years, especially for your generosity in spirit when it comes to other artists. I’ve been the beneficiary on more than one occasion let me tell you. So have a wonderful birthday, and by the way, mine’s the day after yours so I’ll have a drink to you on the other side of midnight. How’s that?

Bowie’s Reaction: (sigh). (pause). Well.. (silence) that’s.. I’ve just seen God in the window.“ ‐

ChangesNowBowie Transcipt, Jan 8 1997 (via sixstepsback)

Musician Scott Walker wishes David Bowie a happy birthday and Bowie says he sees God.  This is substantially different than the exchanges that Gov. Scott Walker engages in these days.

Advantage:  Scott Walker, musician.

Scott Walker - “Jackie” (1968)

Just amazing. The man really had his own thing going on.

Tell me how we get Bowie, Morrissey, Teardrop Explodes, or Echo & the Bunnymen without performances like this.

Why Digital Talent Doesn’t Want To Work At Your Company | Fast Company

Posted on 29 November 2011

I agree with caveats. Merely having cool project(s) is not enough. Management has to be open to clear messaging, branding and failing fast. And pay has to be good.
