I agree with caveats. Merely having cool project(s) is not enough. Management has to be open to clear messaging, branding and failing fast. And pay has to be good.

The Beginner’s Guide To Blogging →
Blogging is like exercising. You know it’s important. You don’t really doubt it will produce results at some point. But you’re also probably going to quit after 3 weeks. That’s just how it goes with anything that requires long-term, consistent effort. The reason most people don’t look like Arnold (back in the glory days) is […]

Should Your Blog Sound Professional or Personal? →
Voice is often seen as the mysterious something that can make or break writing. An important part of that is tone, or the general feel of how you use words. Do you write formally, professionally? Or do you take a more colloquial, conversational tone? There is no single right or wrong answer. In fact, there […]

Pinterest is the virtual version of a designer’s inspiration board. It’s growing at a time when curation and cataloging is inherent to human digital behavior – now that we are finding what we love, we want to share it with others. The platform is growing – and marketers should consider integrating it into their marketing strategy […]

Instapaper and Marco Arment Have Ruined iOS UI
First, if you are not using Instapaper, you should. The ability to read things I find on the Internet whenever I want, wherever I want, is huge. Using the Instapaper iOS app is such a joy for long-form reading, or as Merlin Mann calls it, choosing to read. The key feature of the app for me is the tilt to scroll function. I now find myself in Safari for iOS, Mail and any other Apple-made iOS app...

Coffee chains urged to improve takeaway cup... →
It’s good to talk about it but let’s start doing something about it. As Merlin Mann says, if it were a priority it would be done by now. Also, Starbucks not revealing the number of disposable cups they sell isn’t a surprise. And its not difficult to figure out how many they sell. Look at earnings over the time period, assume roughly 75% are hot beverages, average the prices of their hot beverages...
